Father. Many have preached in Your Name; Your Most Holy Precious Name. We lift them up to You and ask Your blessing upon them. We pray You will enlighten them and lead them to teach the Truth; the unmitigated, unfiltered Truth. Father, we ask that You change the hearts of those men who call themselves men of God, but are not. We pray you lead us all to repentance. We pray, Father, knowing you hear us. By, through and in Christ Jesus, AMEN.

This message is not original to me. I heard one very similar to it not long ago. An itinerant preacher, Paul David Washer, has been at this for a long, long while. I heard this sermon by way of the Internet.

This sermon’s simple truth moved me to sorrow and tears. It moved me to want to tell you and anybody who would listen about the apostasy that is all around us.

It’s important to note Mr. Washer has critics. I do not pretend to know Mr. Washer, but I have read this sermon and heard him preach this sermon. He seems to me to be a genuine man of God whose purpose in this sermon is to expose hypocrisy in the lives of men and women who call themselves Christian. This sermon exposes the root of an apostasy we have been warned about.

This sermon message by way of the Holy Spirit causes me to examine my own walk.

It is not my goal to critique this sermon’s author. Rather, I hope the Holy Spirit leads me to use Mr. Washer’s work as a foundation to bring glory to God.

I prayed and I asked God for instruction. How Lord can I a weak man like me gain strength to do what You have called me to do? What is Your direction for me, Lord? What can I possibly say that would lead any other teacher to believe that anything I say is important enough that would lead any other to change, to repent?

God’s answer, step out. Teach with loving kindness. Tell them the truth. Leave the conviction of their hearts to Me.

He died for His Church. He died for His Bride. We can do nothing less than heed His command and teach His Word in loving kindness.

2 Timothy 2:24-26
And, the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth; and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

Like Mr. Washer and countless other preachers; “Here am I.”

Isaiah 6:8
And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

God called Isaiah to be His prophet. Isaiah was shown the magnitude of God’s greatness and Sovereignty. Isaiah realized his sinfulness and committed to do the Lord’s work as he was called to.

I am ill prepared to be hated for the truth of what the Lord leads me to say. It is my prayer that you will see in these words the work of the Holy Spirit. I am not seeking criticism, but I do expect all who read this to be critical; to be like the Bereans.

It is my most fervent prayer that good men will have their eyes opened to their role in revival, repentance and restoration.

May we all say Amen!

Our lives, our spiritual lives are at risk. We are teachers. We are teachers of His Word. We are mandated; more, we are ordained by God to be better, to do better, to give our best for the sake of Christ Who died for us.

My brothers, my fellow teachers in Christ, I speak to you in loving kindness. This may be the proverbial “hard pill to swallow:” The devil has made his way into local churches. The devil is destroying many lives in the world and even inside the local church.

These destroyed spiritual lives are to the shame of the preacher, the pastor, the elder and to the evangelist.

For a multitude of excuses reasonable men consciously choose to sit back and do nothing as the local congregations become more and more worldly. As they grow further and further from the Truth that is Jesus Christ the more we as teachers sit on our hands and do nothing.

It is time for us to take hold of our responsibility for our teaching. It is time to tell and to hear the truth about what is happening in our churches.

As I said these ideas are not original to me. I believe they are original with God and these words bear repeating.

We are in a time when God’s children are being deceived into believing a mockery of the Gospel and we have a share in the cause. It is not necessarily our fault alone, but collectively we are not guiltless in this shame.

This “falling away” from the Truth is rooted in definable problems. Mr. Washer calls them indictments against teachers. These “Indictments” are allegations against us. As teachers we should give these charges our attention. You may read these allegations and conclude you are not guilty. But, if there is even one charge for which you do not have a defense, then you share in the cause for the ongoing apostasy.

If these indictments are true, then we need to make a commitment to resolve them. They need to be abolished in our churches. For the sake of Christ, we need to hear and to change our ways to be in line with God.

If we fail to acknowledge our responsibility and we continue to teach in the ways we are accustomed we will be a party to the apostasy. We need a revival in our churches certainly, but more importantly we need revival in our pulpits.

Brothers we are in Christ. We must see His Word being preached in this time. We need to let God work through us to start an awakening. Is He calling you to be a leader in a call to repentance?

Look around your community. Be honest with yourself and with God. We are not doing what we are supposed to be doing in our churches. We have been commanded to teach the truth, yet we fail to do that. Rather, we look to grow our churches. We want to make little kingdoms for ourselves.

We have not done what our Lord commands us. We have not told the truth to those who need to hear it the most.

We cannot do what we want to do and ignore the Holy Spirit and then expect God to honor us. We have contributed to this apostasy. We have not made His church better, rather we have helped make is slothful. It is time to change our ways.

We have become boastful. Too many local churches count success in the numbers people filling sanctuaries on Sunday mornings. We count ourselves successful by the size of our buildings and by the landscaping. We are short the truth. People attend churches to have their ears tickled.

We need courage. We need honor. We need strength. We need God given, God ordained instruction and strength.

For a time, as long as the Lord allows, these allegations as presented by Mr. Washer will be presented here. Listen for the Holy Spirit’s instruction to you. Have you been stained by these indictments?

Ezekiel 3:16-21
And at the end of seven days, the word of the LORD came to me: “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul.

Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”

Are you prepared to give the warning? To receive it?

Acts 20:21 (NIV)
I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

Are you prepared to teach the Truth; the unmitigated Truth in loving kindness? Will you receive it and act as you know you should?

1 John 2:6 (NIV)
Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

1 John 3:18-22
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.

INDICTMENT 1: There is a practical denial of the sufficiency of scripture.
INDICTMENT 2: There is a palpable ignorance of God.
INDICTMENT 3: We fail to address the malady of man.
INDICTMENT 4: There is an ignorance of the Gospel of Christ Jesus.
INDICTMENT 5: Ignorance of the doctrine of regeneration.
INDICTMENT 6: Unbiblical Gospel presentation / unscriptural invitations to salvation
INDICTMENT 7: Ignorance regarding the nature of the church.

Be blessed, every day…

INDICTMENT 8: The “Doctrine of Regeneration” is poorly understood and woefully taught.
INDICTMENT 9: There is a lack of church discipline.
INDICTMENT 10:There is a void of serious teaching about holiness.
