Thoughts On Psalms: “Arise, O Lord”

Psalm 3:5-8

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me. I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.

Arise, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God! For you have struck all my enemies on the jaw; you have broken the teeth of the wicked.

From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on the people. Selah.

The Psalmist has assurance that he will be kept safe by the Lord. The warrior is able to sleep with the confidence His Father will keep his enemies away. We have that same gift. In our most dark hours when the world is crashing in on us we can believe our Father will take us into His safe place and keep us.

“Tens of thousands” of the devil’s minion are restless. The evil one and his horde are seeking good men to devour. Like the Psalmist the enemy is all around us waiting.

It is time to awaken from our slumber and realize as the Psalmist does; “Arise O Lord! Deliver me, O my God!.” With the courage of God, David was able to muster the strength to continue the righteous battle.

With humble prayer acknowledging our weakness and giving glory to God we can witness the enemy being broken and put at bay by our Lord!

Salvation is our first sip of God’s grace from a fountain of heavenly grace. Only God can deliver us through the trials of the day in the same manner He delivered the Psalmist from his.

Be a blessing to God today. Know that He is blessing you.
