Thoughts On Psalms: Under God’s Wing

Psalm 5:11,12
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your Name may rejoice in You. For surely, O Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.

Our Father, Our Lord, is our Protector. In His presence no one can bring any harm to us. We have reason to be glad under His protection. Scripture teaches that if God be for you who can be against you?

Romans 8:31-39
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised— who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our security is so sure we should sing with joy. Sing praises to heaven that honor our Lord.

Then David prays for us, “Spread Your protection over them….” God’s love surrounds us and keeps us near to Him. Scripture teaches, “Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.”

Can you imagine a better place to be, but under God’s wing?  We know His Name! Let the rejoicing begin with a new fervor. Let your heart sing in the knowledge He loves you. There is no doubt in our minds, “for surely, O Lord, You bless the righteous.” By our belief in Jesus we have been made righteous. God’s blessings are all around us. He shields us from the wickedness of the world.

Today is a day to bless our Lord; our Protector. Be a blessing to others and keep the “Royal Law.” Be blessed today.
