A Christian’s Faith

Faith is the quiet foundation upon which our relationship with God rests. It is not something we build through effort alone, nor something we can fully explain. It is given, and it is received. In faith, we begin to loosen our grip on what we once thought certain, and we learn—slowly, often humbly—to trust what we cannot see.

To believe that Jesus is the Christ is not the result of proof in the ordinary sense. We have not seen God with our eyes, nor have we stood beside one who has. And yet, we believe. Not blindly, but with a kind of inward knowing that settles deeper than logic alone can reach.

Perhaps it helps to consider a simple example. Many of us return to the same places for a meal, trusting that what we receive today will be much the same as it was yesterday. We do not step into the kitchen. We do not inspect the process. Yet we trust. There is a consistency we have come to rely upon.

In a small way, that trust reflects something greater. The life of faith rests on the quiet assurance that God is who He says He is—unchanging, faithful, and near.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen… By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God…”
—Hebrews 11:1–3

God does not waver. His character does not shift with the passing of time. What He has spoken remains, and what He has begun, He continues. Like bread that sustains and water that refreshes, His provision is steady and sure.

There is also a gentle promise given to those who trust Him:

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water… it does not fear when heat comes… and does not cease to bear fruit.”
—Jeremiah 17:7–8

Faith does not remove every difficulty, but it anchors us through them. It steadies the heart when circumstances are uncertain and gives quiet strength in seasons that feel dry.

We are also reminded that God hears us. Not because our faith is strong in itself, but because He is attentive and kind.

“O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you desire.”
—Matthew 15:28

Faith, then, is not something we measure or manage. It is not a force we control, nor an emotion we must sustain. It simply is—like the God toward whom it is directed. It rests, it trusts, it receives.

And so we find ourselves drawn into something deeply personal. Not a system, not an argument, but a relationship.

Father, thank You for drawing us to trust You. You are faithful, even when we do not fully understand. You are near, even when unseen. Teach us to rest in that truth, and to walk in quiet confidence before You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
