| Psalm 5:7–8 There are moments in the life of faith when we come face‑to‑face with the quiet truth that we stand before God only because He has drawn us near. Not by achievement, not by spiritual strength, not by the polish of our best days — but by mercy. Worship begins in that recognition. It is the heart bowing before a holiness that should undo us, yet instead receives us. Psalm 5 reminds us that entry into God’s presence is never earned; it is granted. We come as people who have wandered, people who have tried and failed, people who have carried the weight of our own ways. And still, the Lord opens His house, His hand, His heart. Worship is our response to that invitation — a life laid at His feet, a posture shaped by awe, gratitude, and trust. The reflection that follows is written from that place. It is the voice of a believer who knows what it is to be found, to be guided, and to be held. It is a prayer of nearness, a confession of dependence, and a quiet surrender to the God who leads us in righteousness. May it draw your own heart into the light of who He is, and may His mercy be the ground on which you stand. |
By Your mercy, I draw near —
not by anything I have done.
The weight of who I was
is covered by Your holy Son.
I was lost in my own ways,
far from Your presence,
but now I stand within Your grace,
held by mercy such as this.
In Your house, I bow low,
a trembling heart quiet before You.
You are holy, set apart,
and yet You have called me Yours.
There is nothing I can bring
but a life laid at Your feet.
So I worship in Your mercy —
undeserved, complete.
By Your mercy, I come;
by Your mercy, I stand.
In Your presence, O my God,
I am held within Your hand.
I will bow and remain
in the light of who You are,
for by Your mercy, I am near,
never wandering far.
You have loved me as I am,
yet You call me still to grow.
With heart, mind, and soul,
I long to know You more.
Teach me to walk Your way,
make it straight before my eyes.
Let me follow close beside You,
where truth and goodness lie.
Lead me, Lord, in righteousness;
make Your pathway clear.
Let me walk it faithfully,
knowing You are near.
Hold me as I go —
hand in hand, I follow You,
into a grace deeper
than I could ever know.
When the path is hard to see
and voices pull me wide,
be the voice that leads me on,
the hand that is my guide.
Not my will, but Yours alone —
let that be my quiet prayer.
Step by step within Your mercy,
knowing You are always there.
By Your mercy, I come;
by Your mercy, I stand.
In Your presence, O my God,
held within Your hand.
I will bow and stay in the light of who You are —
by Your mercy, I am near, never wandering far.
