| Psalm 5:9–12 is a psalm of clarity — a prayer that names deception, confronts darkness, and clings to the protection of God’s favor. David doesn’t pretend the world is gentle; he acknowledges that lies can sound sweet, that evil can disguise itself as light, and that hearts can be pulled off course without even noticing. But he also declares something stronger: God surrounds His people with favor like a shield. This poem captures that tension — the reality of spiritual danger and the greater reality of divine protection. It reminds us that righteousness is not earned but given, that mercy calls us home, and that God’s covering is stronger than any scheme set against us. It is a worship battle‑cry: a declaration that those who run to God will rejoice, will stand secure, and will be held by a favor no enemy can break through. |

Not a word they speak is true;
every line is bent and torn.
Hearts that hunger after ruin,
souls that feed on what is worn.
Like a grave thrown open wide,
breathing death in every phrase—
sweet deception on their tongues,
pulling hearts to broken ways.
Every whisper sounds so right,
every lie is dressed in light.
But beneath it, shadows move,
drawing us away from truth.
We will not be led astray,
we will not be pulled away
from the life You set before us,
from the truth that makes us stay.
Let all who run to You rejoice;
let every heart now lift its voice.
You are our refuge, strong and sure—
in You, O Lord, we stand secure.
Surround us with Your favor now,
a shield no enemy breaks through.
If You are for us, who can stand?
Our hope, our life is found in You.
We were once among the lost,
walking paths that led to death.
Guilty hearts and blinded eyes,
running from Your every breath.
But Your mercy called us home
through the grace we don’t deserve.
Now we stand in righteousness—
not by us, but by Your Word.
Let their lies undo themselves,
let their schemes fall to the ground.
Every path that leaves Your truth
is a road that won’t hold ground.
Still Your mercy calls us back,
still You shine a guiding light—
we will speak while there is time,
calling souls from death to life.
You are our Protector.
You are standing over us.
No one stands against us
when Your hand is covering us.
Draw us near, we will come;
underneath Your wings we run.
Let our hearts now overcome
by the power of Your love.
Be a blessing, be a blessing
to the God who shelters us.
Be a blessing, be a blessing
in the life He has given us.
