Through the Night

Psalm 6:6–7 —  is one of Scripture’s most honest prayers. It doesn’t rise from strength or certainty, but from exhaustion — the kind that settles into the bones after long nights of weeping. David doesn’t hide his weariness; he brings it into the presence of God, trusting that even the tears he cannot explain are seen and understood.

There are seasons when prayer feels less like triumph and more like survival. When the heart is too tired to form sentences, and the only offering we have is the ache itself. Psalm 6 reminds us that God receives even that. He does not wait for us to be composed or confident. He meets us in the trembling places, in the quiet hours when fear feels louder than faith.

Yet even in the heaviness, something begins to rise — a small, stubborn hope that God has not stepped away. The One who hears every cry also carries every burden. The night does not silence His compassion, nor does sorrow push Him back. He remains near, steady, faithful.

And as David’s prayer unfolds, it widens. The one who has been comforted begins to pray for others who are hurting, lifting their pain into the same mercy that held him. This is the rhythm of grace: God meets us in our breaking, and then teaches us to carry the broken with Him.

Through the Night is born from that place — the weary cry, the quiet turning, the rising strength, and the compassion that reaches outward. It is the reminder that even in the deepest hours, we are never left alone.

I have been worn thin from crying,
nights stretched long with restless tears.
Every shadow felt like morning,
every silence fed my fears.
My pillow held the questions
my heart was too tired to name,
yet somewhere in the breaking
Your hand reached through the pain.

And I know I’m not the only one
who walks through storms like this.
There are hearts around me aching,
longing for a touch of peace.
Each tear becomes a quiet prayer,
each sigh a call to You;
and even in the darkness,
You are making something new.

Through the night and through the sorrow,
You are calling out my name.
When I stumble, when I falter,
still Your presence stays the same.
You are near and You are faithful,
You will see me through the night;
for even in the deepest hours,
I am never out of sight.

When my eyes grow weak with weeping
and the path is lost to me,
You remain my steady anchor,
You remain my strength to be.
Voices rise to tell me failure,
whisper lies that I’m undone,
but Your truth begins to gather
and Your light has just begun.

You are here within the darkness,
You are hope and You are light.
Every tear and every trembling
finds its refuge in Your sight.
You are here — and we believe You.
You are all we’ll ever need.
In the quiet, in the fire,
You are faithful; You still lead.

So I lift the ones who’re hurting,
every soul that feels the same,
every heart that’s been abandoned,
every life that knows this pain.
Let Your mercy fall like healing,
let Your presence draw them near;
turn their weeping into morning —
let them know that You are here.
