| Psalm 12:5-8 There is comfort in knowing that God hears what others may overlook. He hears the cry of the hurting. He notices the person who has been pushed aside. He knows when words have wounded, promises have been broken, and truth has been treated carelessly. None of it escapes Him. Then come those remarkable words: “I will arise.” God is not saying that He has suddenly discovered what is happening. He has known all along. His response comes with purpose. We may wonder why He did not act yesterday or why circumstances have been allowed to continue as long as they have. We do not always know the answer. But God’s silence should never be mistaken for His absence. There is another comfort in this passage. After describing the unreliable words of people, the Psalmist turns to the words of God. What a contrast. Human words can flatter, deceive, exaggerate, and change. God’s words are described as purified silver. They can be trusted. That matters when life becomes uncertain. We need something upon which the heart can rest. We need more than another opinion added to all the others. We need to know there is a Voice that does not change according to circumstance or convenience. God gives us that assurance. And notice that God does more than speak. He keeps. He guards. He cares for those who need Him. Perhaps you are waiting for Him now. Perhaps you have prayed about something for a long time and cannot yet see His answer. This Psalm does not ask you to pretend the waiting is easy. It simply reminds you that your prayer has not disappeared into the silence. God has heard. His Word remains true. His care has not weakened. So when you cannot depend upon what you hear around you, lean again upon what you know of Him. When the waiting becomes difficult, do not mistake waiting for abandonment. And when your own strength grows thin, remember the One who said: “I will arise.” The world may change its words. God does not change His. Be a blessing today. |
You Will Arise
The cry of the weary
does not disappear into silence.
The sigh of the needy
is not carried away
and forgotten.
God has heard.
I will arise.
Not startled.
Not late.
Not unaware of what has been done.
He has heard the boast,
the hollow promise,
the word that could not be trusted.
And now He speaks.
His words are silver
passed through the fire,
purified until nothing remains
but what is true.
No hidden purpose.
No shifting promise.
No word that bends
when keeping it becomes costly.
What God speaks
can bear the weight
of the heart that leans upon it.
And He does more than speak.
He keeps.
He guards.
He draws near.
So let uncertain voices
rise and fall.
We have heard another Voice.
I have heard.
I will arise.
I will keep you.
The world may change its words.
God does not change His.
